COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY
CHOC AFFAIR IN YORK
This was a fantastic commercial photography commission that I worked on last year for Choc affair in conjunction with United by Design. I’m always very sensitive to the needs of commercial clients – particularly in the context of a rebrand – and so where appropriate always keep images top secret until they are launched officially.
For those not in the know Choc affair is a York producer of high end chocolate products including bars, fun lollies and corporate gifts. The company has a high focus on business ethics evidenced through it’s work placement schemes and partnerships with Colombian Cocoa producers.
The new website is now launched so am delighted to share some of the photography undertaken. I’ve shared some screen grabs of images in the context of use on the website and some wider documentary and detail shots taken in the York factory. There is also a series of editorial style food images of raw chocolate ingredients and will share images from this shoot soon. A hint of these can be seen on the website though.
Choc affair are passionate about people and I love the focus given to the team members behind the products. The ‘Meet the Team’ page looks really strong and I love the informal tone of the introductions.
A creamy soft process was added to the black and white images whilst colour images of products and people were given warmth to fit with the overall feel of the branding and website.
I really love working with food producers as it enables me to use my documentary photography style alongside high end editorial photography of food and products. There is always a fantastic story to be captured behind every product.
