Decisions about photography are always at the core of any rebranding project. Words are of course crucial to get across key messages about a business but it’s images that give immediate meaning and emotion. Whether it’s atmospheric images that evoke a sense of mood or place or a set of personal branding portraits that really give potential clients a sense of the people behind the business.
I belong to a fantastic network of York business women called ‘Winning Women’ and was delighted to be commissioned by fellow business women Laura & Elaine at Research Matters to create a set of images to support new branding on their website and social media profiles. They had a clear vision of black and white photographs to sit alongside the fresh, feminine graphics of the website. They also wanted a really clear presence of themselves to come through the site as they are at the core of their client’s experience of the business and so we created a fantastic joint portrait for the homepage. This portrait was shot at York Station as Laura & Elaine frequently travel to London to see clients and so wanted a sense of York but also their connection with traveling. The station image was shot knowing that a final banner crop was required but it works so well in full frame too. We also spent time on some individual portraits to support biographies. I also shot a bespoke skyline image of York Minster for use as a banner on the ‘About’ Page. I also took another colour image of Elaine & Laura which will be used for editorial purposes.
Do have a visit to the main site as it’s a great example of what can be achieved through great design and photography work. Here are the joint portraits chosen by Laura & Elaine and some screen shots showcasing the key elements of the photography.
The final portfolio of images covered all bases and included high resolution images for print, web banners, images for social media profiles including avatars of individual portraits.
