The brief: I was commissioned for this project as a marketing photographer to create a series of lifestyle images to promote the Yorkshire Coast Christmas campaign. Working alongside marketing consultant Paul Whiting from PW Does I undertook production roles including location and prop sourcing, model casting and styling.
Photography approach: There is always a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into a lifestyle marketing shoot. After a recce visit we settled on The Scarborough Spa as our main location. The Spa offered some good all weather options (always important to have contingencies in place where possible!) and beautiful light to work with in the Sun Court. It also had a neutral white drinks chalet in situ which I styled with Scandi style props and twinkly lights to create a lovely backdrop. Styling also included Christmas Trees and the all important wardrobe. This involved various bags packed with Scandi style jumpers and woolly hats!
Daytime images were shot to have a bright and clean feel with a nod to a Scandi style Christmas. We then waited for dusk which provided a fantastic window of soft light which brought out the best of the sparkly lights on the Scarborough front.
Photography went into a second day for a Winter beach walks series at Cayton Bay.
A huge thank you to our amazing models Cate and Noah. They were wonderful to work with and we had a lot of fun playing Christmas!
Use of images: The images will feature across the campaign on both web and print media. A key part of the campaign is bus signage to promote the Christmas on the Coast message to a wide audience.
You can find out more about the Christmas activities through the Discover Yorkshire Coast Christmas page
I’ve hand picked some favourite images from this marketing campaign. They showcase the variety of locations used and the styling and props.
