North York Moors National Park – Lifestyle photography for ‘Time for You’ campaign

I absolutely loved this lifestyle photography commission for the North York Moors National Park ‘Time for You’ marketing campaign.

THE BRIEF

The campaign was shot over several months with the aim of capturing the experiences available across the region to promote it as a year round destination for short breaks and holidays.   There is such diversity of environments across the NYMNP, from the Yorkshire Coast through to sweeping moorlands.  The campaign required a mixed portfolio of environment and lifestyle people photography.

THE TEAM

It was a privilege to work alongside marketing expert Paul Whiting and film company Hewitt & Walker on this campaign.  We worked with 2 brilliant sets of models who helped bring the images to life.  Huge thanks to Deborah Hirzel and Ian Harkin and Elsie and Ben for coping with everything we threw at them including horses, water and yoga mats!

THE LOCATIONS

One of the core aspects of the campaign was to convey seasonality.  From Autumnal woodland through to blue skies on the coast.  It was such a privilege to visit and photograph such stunning locations.  Highlights included a misty early morning shoot at English Heritage Rievalux Abbey and photography at Castle Howard.  Early mornings were also helped by staying over in the area in my fab Mazda Bongo camper!  This meant I was up before the crowds as with our shoot down at the beautiful Hayburn Wyke Waterfall.

THE EXPERIENCES

There are just too many brilliant activities to list!  One of the best things of this campaign was meeting so many amazing people and business owners.  People who live and breathe their work and are so passionate about the North York Moors National Park.  Meeting and photographing chef Andrew Pern at The Star at Harome was such a highlight.  Our models Deborah and Ian were even luckier as they got to eat the delicious food prepared for the shoot.

Another highlight was documenting artisan glass blowers at work in the Gillies Jones studio in Rosedale.  Working in sweltering temperatures it was fascinating to observe and document the artists at work.

Another amazing experience to photograph was foraging and fossil hunting along the coast at Ravenscar.

I’ve picked out some favourite images from the campaign to showcase the diversity of environments and activities covered.  A huge thank you again to all involved in the shoots – the team received such a warm welcome which was wonderful.
