Winter Wedding – Middlethorpe Hall York

WINTER WEDDING

Middlethorpe Hall York

I’m slowly but surely working my way through my wonderful 2016 weddings on the blog!  I’m therefore thrilled to share Hannah and Laurence’s beautiful winter wedding at Middlethorpe Hall which is a stunning National Trust property just outside York. The team at Middlethorpe are utter pros and I always love working with them.  The day was expertly planned and co-ordinated by Julia and Lionel from the venue.

I think this day shows perfectly how lovely winter weddings can be.  There was plenty of natural daylight to work with due to the early ceremony time at 1.00pm.  This allowed photography of the newly weds in the gorgeous grounds at Middlethorpe as well as some relaxed group shots outside.  The light was so beautiful on the day and was a joy to work with.  We then had the lovely contrast as evening set in and the interiors were all set into festive mode with candles and twinkly lights.  What’s not to love?!

My day started with Hannah and the girls at Middlethorpe documenting all of the getting ready activities.  As a female photographer, this is always such a lovely part of the day to photograph as I love the all female environment!  It really does feel such a privilege to get to see all the behind the scenes moments in the build up to the ceremony.  Hannah had a fab team of bridesmaids with her Aunty taking the role as Maid of Honour.  Hannah’s gorgeous dress came from Boutique Brides in Headingley and hair and Make-Up was by Veil of York.  Flowers were created by Joanna Keeley who is just based down the road from the venue in Bishopthorpe Village.

The ceremony was held just around the corner from Middlethorpe Hall at St Andrew’s Church in Bishopthorpe village.  I love the confetti shots that were taken as they couple departed from the church.  These were shot walking backwards shoulder to shoulder with super talented cinematographer Mark Lenik as Hannah and Laurence walked down the main path lined with guests.

On our return to Middlethorpe we took the opportunity to capture some relaxed portraits of Hannah and Laurence in the beautiful gardens.  The daylight gave us more time to grab some family group shots before everyone settled back into the warmth to enjoy the drinks reception.  Speeches were held throughout the wedding breakfast and I there were some great reactions captured – particularly during the Best Men’s speech!!  The evening celebrations were held downstairs where guests danced the evening away to live music.

Huge congratulations again to you both xxx
