YORKSHIRE TWEED
FABRIC SOURCING WITH ANTONIA HOUSTON COUTURE
I was thrilled to be asked to accompany and document couture fashion designer Antonia Houston on a fabric sourcing visit to Marton Mills. The mill is situated in Pool in Wharfedale near Leeds and is a family owned business with a heritage linking back to 1931. Antonia was looking to source a specific range of Yorkshire tweeds for a new collection to be launched in Spring 2018 as part of York Fashion Week. There are few sneak peaks of the designs within the images as a hint of the fabulous looks that will be in the collection.
During the visit we were treated to a tour of the mill and there was the opportunity to capture some images of the machinery and process details. It was fantastic that one of Antonia’s selected fabrics was actually on the loom mid-manufacture.
A huge thank you to the Ellen and the team at Marton Mills for their warm hospitality.
I’m really looking forward to documenting future stages in the couture design process as Antonia takes her visions through to creation.
I am so passionate about working with producers and makers and have a bit of a geeky obsession with documenting manufacturing processes!
