As a hospitality photographer I absolutely loved this commission for The Robert Parker Collection.
Ednam House Hotel is situated on the banks of the River Tweed in Kelso on the Scottish Borders. It’s a stunning location and so well placed for exploring Scotland.
THE BRIEF:
This commission played perfectly to my strengths to work across multiple photography genres. The brief required a detailed portfolio to showcase the facilities, atmosphere and services at the hotel. Photography covered landscape, architecture, interiors, lifestyle, portraits and importantly food.
PHOTOGRAPHY APPROACH
I spent two full days on location with the team at Ednam. Weather as always dictated my schedule. Landscape and exterior images took priority in the moments of better weather. I did several hikes across Kelso bridge to capture the view of the hotel and river banks in different lighting. Early mornings for soft rosy light and late nights for twinkly lights were all captured.
I worked carefully around guests, many of whom kindly offered to get involved in the shoot. This was perfect to create some very natural lifestyle images to showcase guest experience. Dog models were also required to showcase the welcome giving to four legged friends!
FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY:
Food was an important part of the brief as the team at Ednam take great pride in offering wonderful local Scottish produce. Bread and other patisserie items are made in-house so it was great to showcase this too. The food portfolio covered off hearty traditional Scottish breakfasts with porridge and cream through to fine dining service in the evening.
PHOTOGRAPHY HIGHLIGHTS GALLERY:
I have picked out some favourites from the portfolio to showcase my approach across different genres. A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Ednam House who gave me such a warm welcome and supported the shoot so perfectly.
