PAPA KATA WEDDING

Papa Kata weddings are always a treat to photograph. And you really couldn’t find a more stunning location in Yorkshire for a teepee wedding than Burnsall. It really is one of my favourite places to photograph. It was one of those days where the weather gave us a bit of everything going but I love how that fed into the photography through the day – from stormy skies, raindrops and finally amazing sunshine.
My day started in Bramhope with Sarah and her team of bridesmaids and family. The house was just round the corner from St Giles Church in Bramhope where the ceremony was held. It was a ceremony full of emotion and was such a privilege to document. There was a rather special mode of transport arranged for Jonny & Sarah who drove themselves out into the countryside to the teepee site. We’d agreed to rendez-vous at Appletreewick for some portraits before joining guests at the drinks reception which then created a rather eventful drive as we had to battle against epic numbers of vehicles coming against us down the narrow back lanes on their way to a vintage tea dance. I really felt for Jonny driving in the super car! No pressure!
The drinks reception was a super chilled affair. Lawn games were enjoyed and a particular highlight was the Stone Skimming. The teepee was beautifully decorated and guests enjoyed some stunning food. There was some fantastic speeches to photograph – full of emotion and some great reactions captured. My parting shot was looking down on my way back to York onto the Burnsall valley giving an amazing view of the teepee in the early evening sun.
