IDAS Public awareness campaign on domestic abuse
I shared a post a little while ago about a commission I was working on for IDAS who are a domestic abuse support charity. Campaign material is now in full use and so I’m delighted to share some of the posters and leaflets that have been at the centre of the public awareness campaign. The key message of the campaign is that domestic abuse can affect anyone. There is also a social media campaign running under with the hashtag title #WeAllDeserve which is highlighting that everyone has the right to a happy and supportive relationship.
I’ve also shared some of the portraits taken for the campaign. I was privileged to spend time with so many inspiring people during the shoots, many of whom shared their stories and the bravery that went into walking away from an abusive relationship. One area of the campaign focused on handwritten messages. These were so powerful as they contained so much personal strength. Many of the subjects talked about wanting to help others realise that they are not alone and there is help available. The portraits were taken on location in York and Northallerton.
