HOLIDAY COTTAGE PHOTOGRAPHY
North Yorkshire
I was recently commissioned to undertake some holiday cottage photography for an exciting new website re-brand. The photography was for luxury holiday property Cherrygarth Cottages which is located near to Castle Howard in North Yorkshire. It was wonderful to be working alongside a brilliant team with Nima Consultancy managing the brand development and website design and expert copywriting provided by The Ink Gardener.
Cherrygarth is in a nutshell a stunning property. It oozes luxury and in addition to some gorgeous interiors offers guests amazing facilities including a hot tub, sauna, fitness zone and games room. The new branding work was focused on helping the property shine and allowing potential visitors to get a real feel for what it has to offer. Cherrygarth did have a website in place but with new fresh look and tons of lovely images it now has the wow factor!
Here is the new look home page for the website:
I thought I’d also share some before screen grabs of the original website for the property. It’s lovely to see the transformation and I think it is a really great showcase of how important images are in creating a strong and engaging first impression
I’ve handpicked some images to give a more detailed feel for the photography undertaken at the cottage. I will always try and use natural light as much as possible to give a realistic feel. Sometimes a tiny bit of flash is needed to lift a dark corner but this is always done in balance with available light. There’s nothing worse that seeing interiors blasted with flash and the danger is that it then gives a mis-leading introduction to a potential customer if they find the property darker than expected.
I received some wonderful support on the day from the housekeeper of the property who worked hard to style the property with some lovely touches. The red wine by the fireplace, fresh flowers and the beautiful laid dining table all add ambiance and help people envisage their stay. It was so good to have this styling support as there is already so much to focus on during an interiors shoot. It sounds surprising but it’s actually very physical work too. To balance exposure and allow the beautiful ambient light to shine through I always work with a tripod. This means a lot of work setting up to get the best angles and I often end up in hilarious positions – crouched on window sills, backed up into wardrobes and balancing on one leg are all part of a normal property shoot!
Due to the time of year we focused the shoot on the property interiors. As soon as the garden has bloomed into Spring I will be returning to capture a sense of the beautiful outdoor space and local area. This approach has worked really well and has avoided any delay on the website launch. External photographs will be added in following the new shoot.
