DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
A Review of 2015
My review of the year just ended has become an annual tradition for me. I started doing a wedding highlights showreel back in 2007 (long before they became the “trendy” thing to do!!) and I really love looking back over work from years ago. As a documentary photographer you give a lot of yourself both physically and emotionally to a wedding so the images always feel very personal and are full of memories.
It’s an epic task editing down to a hundred or so images to share but always worth it. 2015 was a wonderful year for me wedding wise. I was also really busy with my commercial photography which sits beautifully alongside my wedding commissions.
Particular venue highlights were Newby Hall, a Papa Kata teepee wedding in stunning Burnsall, The Cheerful Chilli near Otley with a fab Yurt, home turf weddings in York – particularly at St Wilfreds Church and The Hospitium and some lovely homegrown marquee weddings. I’ve worked with some wonderful suppliers along the way and I can’t stress enough how important community is in the wedding industry. Working as a team player with venue staff and other key people is crucial to the smooth running of a wedding.
I hope you enjoy the images and here’s to a very fabulous 2016 !! xx
