Newburgh Priory Wedding Photography – Clemmie & Lee

NEWBURGH PRIORY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

CLEMMMIE & LEE

Due to my experienced but oh so cautious brain I always arrive extra early on wedding days.  I’d rather take the opportunity for a last location scout around a venue, meet fellow suppliers or just start snapping earlier than booked rather than take the risk of being late.  This wedding was no exception and so managed to take a bit of time at the start of the day at beautiful Newburgh Priory to capture some architecture and landscape images.  Newburgh Priory is situated just on the outskirts of picture postcard village Coxwold in North Yorkshire.  It is a stunning venue and is full of history.  One of the highlights is the amazing view of the White Horse across the lake.

I then headed over to The Old Rectory Guest House in the nearby village of Thormanby where Clemmie was in residence with her Mum and several friends.  I spent a while with the girls documenting all of the getting ready moments.  Clemmie’s gorgeous dress was by Pronovias.  Just before I left for the church I was able to capture Clemmie’s father seeing her in her wedding dress for the first time.  This is always a very precious moment and I always feel very honoured to witness it.

The boys had not been left to their own devices as we had arranged a second shooter for the grooms before the ceremony.  Susie Lawrence captured some great moments of the boys at their lunch at the Durham Ox at nearby Crayke as well as a sense of the build up to the ceremony.  The ceremony was held at St Michael’s Church in Coxwold.  It’s a beautiful church and both exterior and interior are dramatic.  As the church is situated on top of a hill the surrounding views are amazing.

Then it was time for the ceremony which Susie also supported from the back of the church.  The confetti depart from the church was so good!  An epic line of very enthusiastic confetti throwers quickly gathered to see Clemmie and Lee on their way to the reception.

The drinks reception was held in the very atmospheric ruins of the old gallery.  Sometimes marquees are sited within the ruined walls but today it was lovely to have it open.  It also offered a shady retreat for guests once the sun came out in it’s full glory.  A handful of family groups and a little bit of time for some relaxed portraits of Clemmie and Lee were captured.  Guests were later called through to dinner in a beautiful marquee by C&J Rentals set on the lawns at the rear of the main house.  Catering was by Friends for Dinner.   Speeches were spaced inbetween the courses ending which gave some different lighting results due to the night drawing in.  Clemmie & Lee then did a great first dance before their guests joined them to party the night away with the help of The Goosehorns.

Huge congratulations again to you both xx
